Went to a very interesting talk on DNA by Mark MacDonald of the Clan Donald DNA project. This took place on Sat 9th June 2007 at the Clan Donald Gathering - Armadale Castle on Skye.

At present I am looking at other DNA Projects for variations of surname spellings that may be linked to our own, as part of this I will also look into the locations and try to build a geographical picture of various spellings.

I have created a user on Family Tree DNA's search site www.ysearch.org click the link below to goto the McGeachie page.

http://www.ysearch.org/lastname_view.as ... =K2NM9&p=0

From here you can search for other users with the same surname or variations of the surname.

Davy.

I have received and returned my own Y-DNA 67 marker Family Tree DNA test and I am awaiting the results. These results will be added to the ever growing McGeachie Surname DNA Project. :D

Just received my first 12 Y-DNA markers from Family Tree DNA, and we also have some 12 marker matches. The other 55 markers should follow in the next week or two. :D :D :D :D

I have now received a total of 37 markers, with another 30 expected in the next few days. There are a few interesting results pointing to Northern Ireland, but this will need clarification.

Now have a total of 54 markers, the final 13 failed to produce accurate results and are being re-tested, they are due around 30th November. To date I have got some very interesting marker matches which may prove to be very usefull. :D

Have today, 21st December, just received my remaining 13 Y-DNA markers making a total of 67. The results show that my trail has led me to Northern Ireland and that the haplogroup that was previously shown as R1B1 has now changed to R1B1C7.

Today, my haplogroup has been re-classified on Family Tree DNA's website, previously I was grouped as R1B1, now classified as R1B1B2E.
